Marble & Granite Care:
Marble and granite are easier to maintain then you would expect. Warm water and a soft cloth clean up most spills on both surfaces.

Marble - Special Precautions:
Marble isn't quite as worry-free as granite. It has a softer, less stain-resistant surface than granite and should be treated like a fine piece of wood. Spills should be wiped up immediately, coasters should be placed under beverages to avoid staining and etching. Marble is especially susceptible to damage from citric acids, alcohol's, and oils. With proper care it's beauty will last for generations.

Granite Surfaces:
Although, granite is a dense material it is a product of nature that is slightly porous. Before an active countertop is utilized it must be properly sealed. All projects that are completed by Globe Marble & Granite Importers, Inc. include three coats of sealer. We recommend sealing active granite surfaces annually.

Sealing Granite Countertops:
The sealing process is simple and takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. This creates an invisible below the surface seal which adds an extended resistance to water and grease, and has no effect on the stone's natural appearance. There are now environmentally safe sealers available at most marble and granite suppliers. Always follow prescribed directions on the product label. Applying the sealer is much like pouring water on the counter, wait the prescribed time for absorption and then remove the excess with a cloth.

Cleaning Granite Countertops:
Granite should be cleaned with gentle dish detergents. Abrasive cleaners such as Fantastic and 409 are not appropriate for granite surfaces. These abrasive cleaners will accelerate the deterioration of the stone sealer.
